Spinel 4.20 ct | Octagon | Burgundy Red | Mahenge, Tanzania
Certified Mahenge Spinel (4.20 ct) from Tanzania, in a sharp emerald cut with an attractive medium deep burgundy-red color. Comes with two origin reports (Lotus and Bellerophon) stating Tanzania/Mahenge. The stone shows a very slight haze (soft, lightly milky appearance) while remaining internally eye clean. A tiny backside spot (chip) can be removed easily by a minimal repolish(approx. 4.18 ct after). We left it as-is so the certificates match the current weight; optional free removal is available on request. Heated (uncommon for spinel) and still highly interesting for collectors/investors due to size, origin, and documentation.

Description
This remarkable 4.20 ct Mahenge Spinel from Tanzania is offered with rare, strong documentation: two independent certificates from LOTUS Gemology and Bellerophon, both stating Tanzania / Mahenge origin. Mahenge spinel is highly regarded in the gem world, and well-documented stones of this size are especially desirable for collectors and the trade.
Color: medium deep burgundy red
The gemstone shows a beautiful medium deep burgundy-red tone—rich, elegant, and highly wearable. The color sits in a sophisticated range rather than a bright “neon” look, making it excellent for refined jewelry and equally appealing for connoisseurs who appreciate deeper, classic reds.
Emerald cut with a clean, modern look
Cut in an elegant emerald cut, the stone offers a sleek outline and a premium, modern face-up style. The interior appears eye clean, with a crisp “window-like” openness typical for the cut style, while still presenting strong color presence.
Slight haze: a soft, lightly milky appearance
This spinel shows a very slight haze / soft milkiness, giving it a gentle, slightly diffused look rather than razor-clear crystal brightness. Many buyers actually enjoy this subtle softness in deeper red stones, as it can add a refined, velvety character.
Small backside chip (flea-bite) — easy to remove
On the backside, there is a small spot (Chip). This can be removed easily by a minimal repolish, and the stone would be approximately 4.18 ct afterwards.
We intentionally did not remove it yet, because both certificates were issued with the stone in its current condition and weight. If the buyer prefers a perfect finish, we can remove that tiny spot free of charge before shipping—so the stone is ready for setting.
Heated spinel (uncommon) — still collector & investment relevant
This gemstone is heated, which is uncommon in spinel compared to many other colored stones. Even so, the combination of Mahenge origin, large size, emerald-cut presentation, and—most importantly—two independent origin reports makes this stone highly interesting for collectors, investors, and the gem trade.
A documented Mahenge spinel with elegant burgundy-red color, modern emerald cut, and optional free refinement—an excellent connoisseur stone with strong resale and collection appeal.
